Balanced menu - A Priority at Olga Gudynn Int'l School
The holistic development of the child implies the synchronization of the instructional-educational activities with those that develop the mind and body. As an integral part of our complete program, meal service plays a very important role. The students’ menu is designed and chosen according to their age, their preferences, and needs to ensure a balanced physical development.
The food is cooked daily in our own cafeteria and it is distributed in special containers to all of our locations. We place great importance on encouraging a balanced diet based on as many fresh and mixed foods, especially vegetables and fruits.
Fluid consumption is very important for our health, which is why our nurseries and schools are equipped with flat water dispensers located in areas that are at the students’ disposal.
We all know that foods and drinks containing sugar, fats, and preservatives are almost impossible to avoid in the modern society we live in. However, we try to minimize these negative influences and teach students (through various engaging methods) to eat as balanced as possible.
Another project that supports balanced eating is the Student Vegetable Garden. The students plant aromatic plants and vegetables that they take care of, collect, and then cook together with the teachers at the gastronomy club. Thus, students are held accountable in a positive way and educated in the spirit of a balanced lifestyle.
Olga Gudynn Int’l School (OGIS), through various projects and practical activities, encourages children to use cutlery and eat as healthy as possible. These are important skills that students must practice daily.
The menu is established according to the age of the children, taking into account the norms imposed by the Ministry of Health, the preferences of the students, and the recommendations of the pediatric doctor.
Time spent outdoors is vital to a balanced life style
Children need movement and outdoor fun to develop their motor skills, balance, coordination, and confidence in their own strengths. Daily outdoor activities are important for well-balanced development, both physically and mentally, as the child’s connection with nature is very important to understanding and discovering the world of which he or she is a part.
The medical triage is performed in the morning, at the arrival of the children, by the nurse and the teacher on duty. Olga Gudynn Int’l School (OGIS) reserves the right to refuse to take the child from the parents or the authorized person, if the child’s apparent state of health indicates that it could endanger his or her own health and/or the community’s. Throughout the day, the health statuses of the students are monitored by the teachers and the nurse.
Procedures for Infectious Diseases
In cases where varicella, measles, scarlet fever or other infectious diseases are confirmed within the kindergarten or school, parents are notified, the Public Health Directorate is informed, and disinfection efforts are organized. Students who are absent have the obligation to present a notice of re-entry into the community issued by the family doctor.
