Modern Teaching Methods and Techniques
OGIS places great emphasis on active-participation methods, in which the child is not a mere recipient of information, but is directly involved in the discovery of information. The activities carried out in our school are centered on the student in order to stimulate the development of thinking, learning through cooperation, and the interest for study.
Our school’s students are encouraged to independently discover new aspects of reality, to learn about representative cultures, to examine reference works, and to explore the environment through methods that stimulate the student’s spontaneity in thinking, imagination, and creativity—thus constantly stimulating him or her to seek new information.
Learning through exploration and discovery and group discussions involves students in learning more than just an explanation, exposition, or demonstration.
Through projects presented in front of the class or in school Assemblies, each student has the opportunity to personally present their research papers, written poems, essays, and information they find interesting.
Thus, students gain more confidence in their own strengths, become more involved and courageous, learn to speak in public, and overcome their emotions and timidity.
Other methods commonly used and appreciated by our students are: didactic games, technical construction games, posters and projects, thematic visits and last but not least, experiments.
