The club aims both to promote healthy eating by involving pupils in the art of cooking and to support their emotional, motor and cognitive development.
Purpose
Cooking is enjoyable and helps children learn how food is prepared and how it contributes to their health. They also feel proud of being able to make a snack that they or others can enjoy. Over the course of the club, they gain independence as they follow a recipe on their own or in a group.
Benefits
Cooking activities inspire children’s curiosity and thinking. They learn comparative vocabulary when measuring ingredients for a recipe or spreading icing into cake tins or moulds. Through experimentation, they develop dexterity and nurture creativity whenever they decorate their dishes, combine ingredients, or slice sponge for cakes.
